Each month, leading up to the first 12 months without Shane, I like to pay tribute to this special man & yesterday 5th April ‘24 we reached 6 months without my husband, father of our children & co-minister of the ministry we built.
Half a year with out his presence in our lives feels unreal but it’s reality.
In the photos two of our young adult children Dallas & Storm are laying Shane’s favorite flowers “Purple Heather,” where their Dad now rests.
As the funeral we blew the shofar and carried Shane out to “ Van Morrison’s “Purple Heather,” a song about idyllic summer-end love. This is the song Shane would play to me since our dating days. The words, the music to this day make me feel entering into the spring season whenever I hear it.
I think it’s because we associate spring with hope, and hope with love — new & past, fleeting or undying, idyllic & our hope, love faith & trust in Yahuah, my strength & rock at this time .
Van sings almost every line with a different emotion: one phrase sounds plaintive, the next hesitant, the next direct and strong. And yet as a whole, the song distills the spirit of wonder and power of Yahuah, and the experience of perfect, first love, I had with Shane.
This song captures so well the spirit of perfect love in Yah & the love I shared & his children shared with him & our fellowship.
Have a listen to this testimony of a song of perfect love. The lyrics are just as beautiful. (See below)
In thanks & appreciation, Jesse
Well the summertime has gone
And the leaves are gently turnin’
And my love I wanna take you
To the place heart-a-yearnin’
Will you go, lassie go
And we’ll all go together
In the wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will you go
And I will build my love a tower
At the foot of yonder mountain
And visit by the hour
From a lonely wooden tower
Will you go, lassie go
And we’ll all go together
In the wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Come on
At the foot of yonder mountain
I will visit by the hour
With the lily of the valley
Go, will you go, lassie go
And we’ll all go together
In the wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will you go, lassie go
Will you go
Will you go, will you go
Will you go, lassie go
