Hosted by EWHAL, please join Dr. Stephen Pidgeon in this special online gathering to celebrate, worship and understand the purpose of Shavuot.
The last of the spring holy days is called Shavuot which is also referred to as Pentecost or the Feast of Weeks and follows the first three spring holy days: Passover of Unleavened Bread and First Fruits. This spring holy day we actually see being celebrated in the book of Acts (Ma’asiym) Chapter 2.
Here we read about how Yahusha’s disciples had come together for the day of Shavuot / Pentecost. It’s important to understand originally believers in Acts 2 were not celebrating this day in the upper room unto Yahusha. Rather they had already been celebrating this day called Shavuot (Pentecost) or the Feast of Weeks for 1500 years before Yahusha’s arrival which we read about in the Torah: Leviticus chapter 23. They were recalling how Yahuah of Israel had revealed His glory to them at Mount Sinai. Taking place 50 days after Shavuot, (Pesach / Passover or Seven Weeks in a Day) is where we get the term Pentecost or the Feast of Weeks. Very simply in the Torah this specific holy day came to be associated with the time that Yahuah revealed himself to the children of Israel on top of Mount Sinai where He appeared at the top of the mountain in fire, glory and smoke.
Then Moses and the children of Israel heard His voice on the mountain & trembled which ushered Yahuah’s writing of His law on the tablets of stone known as the Ten Debarim / Ten Commandments. The same Yahuah who revealed himself at Sinai, manifested his glory again to them all in the upper room where the tables & room were violently shaken by the wind. What happened was a spectacular fulfillment were Yahuah wrote His law upon their hearts, bringing this holy special day called Shavuot or Pentecost and the impartation of the Ruach Hakodesh. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Ruach upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: YO’EL (JOEL) 2:28
